King Douglas replied 2 months ago Thanks, Angela...before anyone gets too excited, this couple were principal dancers with the Boston Ballet Company. At the time this photo was taken, she was in her mid-twenties. She is not nude or even topless, but wearing a sleeveless leotard, so she was quite modest. What makes her look so vulnerable is an artifact of the pose I had her hold. She was in the habit of biting her fingernails, so I had her close her hand. She also has a cleft chin like Kirk Douglas, which I wanted to soften, so I had her lean her head against his chest which conveniently hid her chin behind her hand. The man has a lazy right eye, which gives him a bit of a squint. Other than that, they are just looking impassively at the camera. Any emotion conveyed is pretty much unintentional, although I was working to get a close mutual portrait, similar to the image published just before this one, also titled Possession. | ||
