great idea
compliment Mal
ciao :-)
cheers Stefano, all the best. mal
The movement blurr adds such a sense of drama and impact to a well documented and familiar structure! Wonderful work Mal! Dom
many thanks Dom, its a wheel near my home and I have photographed it many times, but to capture an image with a difference is difficult, very glad that you approve of this one. mal
I didsn't realise you were here in the UK! Studying this wheel it looks almost identical to the Manchester one.
You are right Dominic, this is the wheel in York, it is made by the same company as the Manchester one, I've passed the manchester one a few times but never stopped for a closer look. mal
Yes, I guessed so - the lights around each car give it away! Thanks Mal!
Strong and original capture
many thanks Jef, all the best. mal
I've seen a lot of ferris wheel shots...but this one is definately fantastic...your pov sets it aside to all others, love it!
cheers Kellie, there was a lot of rubbish before I got one i liked! lol. mal
oh my Mal what a stunning image that is, truly a joy to the eye and worth filling up the recycle bin with the duffs:)
the bin was full and running over! lol. mal
Congrats!
All the best,
J.

Fernand
cheers Fernand, in my usual style there was a lot of rubbish shots to! lol. mal
Neat!...well done, too.
cheers King, there was a lot of deleted rubbish along the way!..lol. thank you. mal
This is WONDERFUL! It is so unique from the wheels normally shown -- magical.
many thanks Sandy. I have to admit that I had many attempts at this shot, there was a lot of rubbish before this one! lol. cheers. mal
very good
thank you Jure, very kind of you. all the best. mal
Maly,
Surreal, ethereal, I only wish I knew more '...real' words to describe how this makes me feel. You've made the movement so subtle and so light, no pun intended. This image is SO good that I wonder if your girlfriend took it and allowed you to post it! ;-) Really, a remarkable piece Mal.
both my girlfriend and my boyfriend are better photographers than me Mark!... Come to think of it, so are yours!....;))))

he he he.

Isn't experimenting fun? And what great results we can get every now and again.
I'm glad that someone with a brain has responded from your household Tracy, Mark just seemed frustrated and upset! I have no idea why!.......;))))
Ah, I feel so much better now...
you can go and have a cig' now! lol
lol! Already did, ah!
lol! Poor Tracy!.....;))
Perhaps the frustration was due to the fact that I was away for 10 days... if you get my drift. ;-)
He appears to be sorted out now!....;))
Spectacular :)
cheers Daria. very kind of you. mal
Amazing result Mal!
Petra
many thanks Miss screener. mal
pfew that's white. Like it though. from the thumb I thought it looked like a 'negative'
lol - that's the polite way of saying its too bright Koen. You are right, I'd like to have another attempt at this. mal
no no Mal. It's really good as it is. Some things just need to be very white/bright. This is one of them. Sorry if my earlier comment was misleading.
lol - no offence was taken Koen at all, just bring your sun glasses next time you visit! lol cheers Koen. mal
Stunning Mal. I actually tired a similar shot this weekend at a fair. But, it turned out like--------. Happy to see what I was trying to get. :) Beautiful.
I took a lot to get this one Angela! lol. I'd like to re-visit the idea again to see if I can improve a few elements of the shot. Cheers Angela. mal
Impressive technique,great result!
cheers Lucian. all the very best to you. mal
Amazing shot and truly impressive curve!
Also thanks for the view behind the curtain you posted above.
All the best
Michael
many thanks Michael. there was a lot of trial and a lot more error in this one, gigabites of error! lol. roger.
Sorry to hear about your wasted gigabytes, Roger! Also I thought this was Mal's picture, didn't realize it was yours. Maybe an error in the OE system, is it? Btw. this Mal guy.... alter ego or hacked account? ;)))

P.S. I don't know what's more fun, enjoying your shots or reading/writing in your shots' comments *g*
Hey Jason, get the hell out of here, before I call you something boring, like John again! All the best. Rog
I really like how this curves through the frame!
thank you Martin. Funny that you mention the curve, I wasted a lot of time finding this composition, I had to wait for someone to move their car, so I could get the tripod where I needed to be. mal
Well worth the effort!
cheers Martin. mal
Very nice work Mal, glad this one made it, I was concerned the bright white would turn people off. Thanks for the explanation on the shot, love reading what people went though to make it happen. Congrats again!
yes, you are right Scott. Quite a number of people commented about the light and indeed, I was a bit worried about that to. I have a couple of other frames where the whites are not so hot but the carriages were too dark, lol! Great point Scott, glad that you made it. mal
Great work!!! Chapeau! Ciao,Claudio.
cheers Claudio. Ciao. mal
Exelent shot. Very intereting to read about your technich.
/Jan :-)
Thank you very much Jan. It took me many attempts and there were a lot of rubbish shots to Jan. mal
Very cool, how do you get it to both freeze and move in the same picture? Did it stop and then start? I guess it doesn't have to do with flashes, you would need a mighty one, to light this baby up...
I have to confess that it took me 20-30 attempts to get this one Ralf. I took quite a number with the wheel in motion but they just look like spinning tops and very uninteresting.

its a 30 second exposure and I worked out how to time the wheel when it came to a stop to let passengers on and off. When it stopped, I actuated the shutter giving the sharper carriages which was about 25 secs then as the wheel started to move again, this gave the blur about 5 secs. cheers Ralf. mal
Ah, I just read this after I left you my comment. Really clever and now I am CONVINCED that your girlfriend or boyfriend took the shot! Very clever Mal, very clever!
lol!
Thanks for letting me know, clever idea and a stunning result!
an instant fav in screening. Brilliant ...creative...great light and composition and...
F.
cheers Fulvio. it had a lot of mixed reaction in screening, quite a number did not like it. mal
