This is awesome. From the thumbnail I saw a old lady- what a delight! Great shot. Richard Ford wrote 3 months ago I saw this over on Flickr in HCSP. Very good effort to get published in THAT group. Seems to me anything that makes it past the admins there (HCSP) can make it on OE. HenriAntoine replied 3 months ago thanks richard. I deleted my account there though because, apart from HCSP and one or two other groups, Flickr is not a good community for critique and commenting among like-minded persons. And the way photos appear over there is really ugly. Richard Ford replied 3 months ago True. I also like the OE feature that makes it easy to track conversations, comments and critiques that one is involved in. I gave up on HCSP as it seems the admins make all their shots go through and there is little rhyme or reason to the other shots that make it. Plus some of the arrogance is intolerable - especially from those folks that banter on about "photographers rights" all the time. Live outside of the west for a change and give me a break! :-s Hinius has excellent work - but when he opens his mouth and starts yapping about "Tele photo weenies" - I get a headache at the concept of any photographer calling anyone else a weenie. :-\ Too much self importance and not enough substance. HenriAntoine replied 3 months ago yes, the arrogance is terrible. I once said to one of the screeners on there, in reaction to a photo of his, that he shoud be careful with stalking people. In reply I got a reaction to one of my photos, in another group, that I was not close enough (which may well have been true) and that I should stalk more! aaaahhhhh. HenriAntoine replied 3 months ago thinking about it, I think the cruder unedited rough randomn kind of shots you see on HCSP wouldn't stand a chance here. And give and take a few exceptions I think that that is quite justified. There's a slight bias towards freak show is always cool on HCSP. gerard sexton wrote 3 months ago hello bert! one of a favorite of mine this has a haunting quality that few images of this genre achieve. its the question small adult or child that resonates for me everytime i see this. stark cold lonely are three other words that i would use. thanks for sending me here (indirectly). i am happy you did even though i see you are not happy & now i see why! Tommy Strommen wrote 3 months ago Hey Bert, great choice of first upload. Seems even better now, could be the different screen I have got now, or touch up's from your side or bad memory from my side. This is an absolute favourite from your cataloue. Nice to see you on oe HenriAntoine replied 3 months ago Hey Tommy, Koen suggested that I join. Have seen your portfolio on here already, great choice of photos. Will comment later, busy now. Thanks for your kind remarks. I did work on the neg anew so thanks! Bert Excellent, I cant describe this better than John Leech, I get the same message and enjoy it very much. I hope to see more photos soon ... this is wonderful. In addition, I thank you for your comment...you have been very kind... HenriAntoine replied 4 months ago Interestingly, the situation wasn't scarry at all. The girl was walking in front of me, I saw the scene, I took the photo. It's the environment with the mess on the ground, the smell that emanates from the scene (piss!), and the nasty racist writing on the door ("white pride, world wide" -- I discovered it weeks later) that give this its edge. And the bycicle helmet in combination with the dangling gloves give it a cuteness level, of course. The girl is fine, she's a daughter of good friends and this was published with their permission. flo wrote 4 months ago a simple beauty, with a nice frame and light.. Grain of Tri-X add a lot of feeling... bravo HenriAntoine replied 4 months ago thanks, yes, expect film grain from me. Apart from the joy of not getting to know how good the photo was immediately, and decide much more in the mind than from the display, it is the main reasons why I like analogue so much. Cheers, Bert Koen Pieters wrote 4 months ago I know of a Dutch guy who has a photo just like this one. But I like yours too :-) Welcome Bert. Great choice for an entry. Those dangling gloves... HenriAntoine replied 4 months ago Thanks Koen, I know him too. Thanks for the tip of joining here. This was my first upload, I'm glad I made it. Now let me see if there's more that has the level required! Cheers, Bert Codrin Lupei wrote 4 months ago An excellent photograph...beautiful work! Love it! welcome to OE! all the best Codrin |
